Watch Awesome 2nd and 3rd Graders Sing “Good News” by Ocean Park Standoff

Callie Manor, the music teacher for Breckenridge Elementary in Lexington, Kentucky was moved by Ocean Park Standoff’s hit “Good News,” and thought it would be a great way to bring her students together.

Here is the note she sent to Ethan Thompson, of OPS:

“… I am a general and vocal music teacher in a public school in Lexington Kentucky.

I teach at a low income, highly diverse school, where 16 different languages are spoken between our students. As you know, music is a world language. After choosing all of my concert music for the year, I heard your single “Good News” on local radio two weeks ago. As a music teacher, musician, and reflective person, I was blown away by the power of the song.

I felt that it was a sign that I needed to scrap the music I had already chosen and then I needed to have my second and third graders sing your song at their concert this year.

I’m sure you’re very busy and I see that you guys are touring through this month, but I just wanted to let you know how many kids and parents this song will reach when we perform it at our winter concert on March 30.

There is something so special about feeling a song rather than just singing it. “Good News” has become that song for so many of my students. I would love to share the song with you as they start getting closer to their concert date.

Thanks for all that you do!”

Ethan was touched by Callie’s note and sent her a instrumental track by the band, for the students to sing along to.
